Noble Energy drilling campaign in Equatorial Guinea

8 August 2012

Delmar Systems designed and installed mooring systems with very limited scopes, using the OMNI-Max anchor to moor the semi-submersible rig Atwood Hunter in close proximity to an FPSO, off the coast of West Africa.

Anchors and mooring components were installed just short of the FPSO mooring lines and other seafloor assets in the field, yielding extremely high uplift on several of the mooring lines.

For these extreme uplift cases, the OMNI-Max anchors were ‘key-seated’ by pulling high tension with the AHV (anchor handling vessel) at a reduced uplift prior to being connected to the rig.

Doing so allowed the OMNI-Max anchor to dive deeper into the soil, allowing further embedment to reach the necessary holding capacity prior to the MODU connection.
