INPEX Ichtys drilling campaign

Delmar Systems was awarded a multiyear contract by INPEX, a major player in production of clean, efficient and reliable natural gas for the Asia-Oceanic region, to moor the dynamically positioned semi-submersible drilling rig Maersk Deliverer year-round on an 8 point system in the Ichthys Field, NW Australia.

Delmar Systems designed and installed a Releasable Mooring System using the RAR Plus technology, an exceptionally reliable acoustic release with mechanical backup.

This allowed the Maersk Deliverer the flexibility to obtain NOPSEMA approval to moor year-round and evade cyclonic conditions, just as the rig would with DP only.

Departing a location can be done within an hour, as opposed to days with a standard mooring disconnect.

This saves the operators millions on spread cost, even without unforeseen delays during disconnection operations in addition to the cyclonic event risk mitigation.
