September 04, 2019

HOUSTON, TX. – Delmar Systems, Inc. successfully completed the 100th mooring line release using RAR Plus Releasable Mooring System (RMS) during a release at Equinor’s Lanterna location utilizing Seadrill’s West Hercules semi-submersible drilling rig. The rig was acoustically released in 2 sets of four and the rig was ready for transit in under an hour.

Matt Smith, Delmar System’s Vice President of Operations said, “This milestone in the use of the RAR Plus signifies the value of this technology and how maximum operational and economic efficiency can be delivered to the industry.  As Delmar continues the company history of innovating MODU mooring strategies and products, our customers will benefit by having practical solutions to both achieve their objectives and address new challenges.”

Delmar’s RAR Plus is a fully redundant (acoustic and mechanical) rig anchor release that allows mooring lines, under tension, to be released from the drilling unit. This eliminates the requirement for an AHTS vessel and provides from immediate departure from the well location, saving time and costs.
