Delmar Systems, Inc. was contracted by Oceaneering International, Inc. to provide support services to recover the H.L. Hunley, a Confederate Civil War submarine, which sank in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Charleston, S.C. The submarine sank in 1864 following an attack during the Civil War. It was not until the summer of 1995 that best selling author Clive Cussler and his team of National Underwater Marine Agency (NUMA) divers discovered the elusive submarine.

Delmar was contracted to provide engineering, geo-technical services, and on-sight project management relative to the suction anchor method used in the recovery process. The submarine was successfully raised to the surface on August 8, 2000 and is undergoing restoration by Friends of the Hunley, Inc., a non-profit corporation.

Delmar is an integrated service provider offering the latest mooring systems and technology with the most experienced and dedicated personnel available. The company specializes in mooring installation, equipment and engineering related services.

“These and other innovations are representative of our personnel’s ability to apply their knowledge and experience in finding the most efficient solution to a mooring need,” said Brady Como, Delmar Executive Vice President. “Delmar’s involvement in the Hunley project further emphasizes our ability to apply current mooring technology in areas outside of the oil and gas industry.”
