Noble Energy Drilling Campaign in Equatorial Guinea
Location: West Africa
Objective: Moor the Atwood Hunter in a congested field with FPSO mooring lines and other assets
Solution: Using the Delmar designed OMNI-Max anchor, Delmar designed numerous mooring systems with very limited scopes to moor the Atwood Hunter near an FPSO and around numerous seafloor assets
Summary: Delmar Systems, Inc. was awarded the contract to moor the Atwood Hunter with taut (no grounded length) limited scope mooring lines
More Detailed Scope of Work:
Delmar Systems, Inc. designed and installed mooring systems using the OMNI-Max anchor to moor the Atwood Hunter in close proximity to an FPSO offshore EG. Anchors and mooring components were installed just short of the FPSO mooring lines and other assets in the field, yielding extremely high uplift on several of the mooring lines. For these extreme uplift cases, the OMNI-Max anchors were “key-seated” by pulling high tension with the AHV (anchor handling vessel) at a reduced uplift prior to being connected to the rig. Doing so allowed the OMNI-Max anchor to dive deeper into the soil, allowing further embedment to reach the necessary holding capacity prior to the MODU connection.
